I was lucky enough to enjoy FIVE’s Beet Bloody Mary when it took home first place and most creative bloody mary at the 2014 San Francisco Bloody Mary Fest. And I’m happy to report that they’re bringing it back. Golden beet puree combines with a beet infused vodka and light tomato juice to create this colorfully swirled liquid gold.
I’ve included my very special spicy beet infused vodka recipe below. And while it doesn’t quite pack the earthy beet punch of FIVE’s Bloody Mary, it will provide a good base for your boozy brunch drink needs.

Spicy Beet Infused Vodka
Inspired by the balance and flavor of FIVE’s Beet Bloody Mary, this infusion gives you all the earthy goodness of a beet cocktail without feeling like you’ve landed in a patch of grassy dirt. Fresh jalapeno spice, black peppercorns, and hint of garlic provide the perfect backdrop for any savory tomato recipe.
Ingredients
1 Golden Beet, Sliced (use red beets for stronger beet flavor)
2 slices Jalapeno
1 clove Garlic, Smashed
5 Whole Peppercorns
Vodka
Directions
1. Add beet, jalapeno, garlic and peppercorns to closable jar. Cover with vodka.
2. Shake and store in a cool, dark place for three days. 3. Strain and refrigerate.
4. For one bloody mary, combine 2 oz beet vodka, 4 oz tomato juice, 3 dashes Worcestershire, a pinch of salt and pepper. Serve over ice.
