Build Your Own Bloody Mary: La Cita.

La-Cita.jpg

Imagine, if you will, a bloody mary oasis hidden within a towering group of concrete skyscrapers, masked behind a dark, red-tinted authentic Latin salsa bar where you are but one person on a patio full of bloody mary imbibers.  It’s Sunday.  And your heart is beating for this blessed drink.  Last night’s activities have left you in dire need of a restorative, yet cheap, cocktail.  The funds are low and your mind is cloudy, so in search of the ultimate bloody mary breakfast combination, you come here: La Cita. Six dollars gets you a nearly full pint glass of vodka with ice and lime garnish.  The rest is up to you.  Shrimp, bacon, pepperjack  cheese cubes and an assortment of pickled items are but a few of the garnishes available to be skewered upon your foot long bamboo stake.  Add a variety of hot sauces, horseradish, Worcestershire, garlic and other seasonings to your choice of straight up Campbell’s, Clamato or, my favorite, the Port O’ Call bloody mary mix and you have yourself a perfectly custom bloody mary meal.

Now since it is nearly impossible to rate the taste of such a custom made drink, I will base my rating on the bloody mary bar itself.  The availability of multiple tomato bases combined with the wide assortment of garnishes and a nice heavy pour of vodka provide La Cita with 3.5 Celery Stalks.

La Cita Sunday Bloody Sunday 2pm – 9pm 336 South Hill Street, Los Angeles, California 90013.  T: (213) 687-7111.
