The Bloody Battle

Here's the deal.  Yes, you get an unlimited amount of delicious brunch nibbles from the likes of Fig & Olive, Haven Gastropub, Plums Cafe, Urban Seoul and more, and yes, you get rockin' live tunes from David Rosales and Lauren Black.  But we all know you'll be downing plastic cup over plastic drunken cup of bloody marys at OC Weekly's first ever Bloody Battle!

Of course our good friends over at Backyard Mary will be there.  If you haven't tried their mix yet, you've been living under a teetotaling rock for far too long.  But this year, they will also be accompanied by Costa Mesa's The Hub, The Olive Pit of Orange, Anaheim's Gospel Brunch, Long Beach Jerky Co., Huntington's Mama's on 39, Memphis Cafe in Costa Mesa, and The Porch in Newport Beach.

Attendees will get a chance to vote on the best bloody mary, as well as best presentation and most unique bloody mary.  It's always interesting to see what unique variations get presented at these competitions.  From mole to beet to crazy vodka infusions, I'd like to say I've seen it all, but the creativity never ceases to amaze me.

I attended a very similar event from OC Weekly last year called Bottoms Up, and it was an absolute blast!  No bloody mary competition but lots of booze and yummy treats.  I'm still not sure if I can make it to this event yet.  I'm actually scheduled to be in San Francisco that week, so I guess I'd already be half way there!  Definitely let me know if you'll be attending!  It may sway my decision... ;)
